As announced in the Worship Service today, I and the other elders would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for your contributions thus far to the development of the IBC Vision. We would like for you to review the Vision document by following this link: Mission Vision Values 2013 rev 1 and prepare your thoughts in advance of the workshop on Saturday 7 December from 09:00 until approximately 13:00. We will meet in the fellowship hall. We know that this is a busy time of year and on short notice, but from a practical standpoint we will never be able to accommodate everyone’s schedule. That said there will be opportunities to provide further input and feedback during the process. In the workshop, we will go through the document – at the end of each section, which represents one of the four Core Values of IBC, there is a statement that reads, “In order to realize this vision in terms of worship and prayer, with God’s grace, we seek to do the following:” Our desire is to discuss the points listed under the four Core Values, namely Worship & Prayer, Learning, Outreach, and Fellowship. We would like for you to consider your own specific areas of influence in IBC as well as other areas you might not be familiar with. The purpose of this exercise is to seek God’s will for us as a congregation. To do that we will sing, pray, talk, laugh, question, debate, eat, facilitate, encourage one another and finally agree on what the primary ministry activities of IBC should be for the foreseeable future. It is a chance for us as a group of leaders and followers to consider aloud God’s purpose for His church. Please be in prayer for this important work. To eliminate the need for others to serve us as we seek to be the servants, can I ask for volunteers to bring some breakfast and/or snack items so we can have a coffee break around 10:30? We anticipate 30-40 people, so if a few folks can bring something simple it would be greatly appreciated. Please RSVP so we have a better idea of who will be in attendance. Thanks in advance for your willingness to serve. Peace and blessings for a great week!
Ephesians 6:10-18 (NIV) The Armor of God – 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
