More than 100 people each month serve in Brussels on Focus Day – now in 5 neighbourhoods around the city.
We call it Focus Day because we want to see more clearly the needs of asylum seekers, the disabled, the homeless, the elderly, and victims of abuse. We partner with local social-profit associations serving people in need and create projects in which volunteers can get involved.
But we also want to see our neighbourhoods more clearly. Where do we see beauty in our neighbourhoods? Where do we see brokenness? Attention is action! Each project is a part of a neighbourhood group of projects. We are currently active in the Marolles, Ste Catherine, Schaerbeek, Ixelles, and Etterbeek. More neighbourhoods to come!
Choose a neighbourhood and then a project. The day begins with an optional time of prayer. Then there is registration and a briefing for all volunteers, after which volunteers go to their projects. The day concludes with a debrief.
Please join us! Many people doing small things together can make a big difference!
PS. Serve the City is looking for French speakers willing to help with beginners lessons for adults every Tuesday or Thursday. The lessons start at 19:00 until 21:00, if interested please contact Esteban.
