Sermon on June 7 by Greg Helms
Scripture: Philippians 2:1-11
Humility is the only soil in which the graces root; the lack of humility is the sufficient explanation of every defect and failure.
True Humility in mankind is seeing God as He is and seeing ourselves as we are—according to His Word. This draws our eyes to see our brothers and sisters, neighbors, and strangers as they truly are, according to God’s Word. Pride is the enemy of humility, and the root of many sins.
…All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” 1 Peter 5:5-6
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:2-3
Our Savior’s humility serves to unify us with the Father. As we grow, He works this same humility in our lives to unify His Church. The King extends His humility to His children.
As we marvel at the grace of God and the cross of Christ, we are strengthened by the Spirit.
As we seek the mind and the attitude of Jesus, daily, He will make us humble and holy.
…the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many. Mark 10:45
May we be found faithful in displaying His love, His light and the Truth of the Gospel.
Believer! Study the (perfect) humility of Jesus.
